OPEC-member Algeria will increase its oil refining capacity to 50 million tonnes per year by 2014 from 22 million tonnes currently, Energy and Mines Minister Chakib Khelil said on Saturday.

In a speech at a conference on oil refining read out by the Energy and Mines Ministry Secretary-General Faycal Abbas, Khelil said the goal would be reached by building new refineries and renovating existing ones, the official news agency APS reported.
