The 4-week moving average was 377,750, an increase of 1,750 from the previous week's revised average of 376,000. Many economists believe a number under 400,000 is necessary for job growth.
The largest increases in initial claims for the week ending May 26 was in Georgia (+2,078), while the largest decreases was in Texas (-376).
