A company that operates a chemical manufacturing facility in the Houston area has agreed to pay nearly $1.5 million in civil penalties over 2006 hazardous waste violations.

The Justice Department, the Environmental Protection Agency and the state on Thursday announced the proposed settlement with Air Products LLC over its Pasadena facility.
