Manufacturing Continues to Gain as Durable Goods Orders Rise

Durable-goods orders dropped in March amid a sharp decline in aircraft demand, the government reported Friday, but when aircraft were factored out demand for durables was up, suggesting continued manufacturing-sector improvement.

Manufacturers' orders for goods designed to last at least three years fell 1.3% last Month to a seasonally adjusted $176.7 billion, the Commerce Department said.
