A national organization has issued a Grand Award for Engineering Excellence to the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission for a $1.9 million dam safety project at Cobble Mountain Reservoir.

The commission was among eight 2008 grand award winners nationwide issued by the American Council of Engineering Companies, out of 158 project entries.
