PG&E to Give Maps of Pipelines to Fire Departments

After weeks of saying it would not provide maps to fire departments pinpointing the locations of shut-off valves for its natural gas transmission lines, Pacific Gas & Electric Co. says it will provide the maps after all.

The utility said Wednesday that it will be turning over the maps to San Francisco Bay area fire departments, but is asking the departments not to release the maps to the public.
