Emerson Process Management: Metal-Seated Ball Valves

Emerson Process Management has introduced the Fisher Z500 line of metal-seated ball valves to its severe service portfolio. Fisher Z500 metal-seated valves are engineered to withstand higher temperatures, pressures, and more erosive conditions than a standard on/off ball valve, providing increased reliability and protection of critical assets in demanding applications. A bi-directional sealing design offers a unique solution to process back pressure and shutoff requirements in both flow directions, safeguarding control valves and other equipment in the line.

Emerson Process Management: Fisher 8590 Butterfly Valve

Emerson Process Management introduces the Fisher 8590 high-performance butterfly valve that brings a selection of disk seals, actuator designs and material combinations to meeting plant-wide throttling and on-off requirements.

Utilizing a lugged body design across the CL600 size range of NPS3 – NPS24, the 8590 can incorporate a splined shaft that accepts either a spring-and-diaphragm or pneumatic piston actuator. It is also available with either a square or keyed shaft that combines with handlevers, handwheels or pneumatic piston actuators.

The pressure-assisted design of the 8590 disk seals provides tight shutoff and permits the use of smaller, less expensive actuators in meeting full ASME B16.34 shutoff capabilities.

The 8590 offers true bidirectional shutoff, which means that torque necessary to open and close the valve remains constant regardless of the differential pressure across the disk. Slam-shut conditions are not created as the disk nears its seat, which extends seal life and avoids actuator and piping damage.

Garlock: Butterfly Valve Line

Garlock butterfly valvesThe Garlock family of companies has reintroduced the Garlock butterfly valve line, a group of flow control products specifically built to handle a wide range of extreme, sterile and chemical transportation and storage conditions, with three new offerings within the Garlock butterfly valve line: the STERILE-SEAL, the SAFETY-SEAL and the MOBILE-SEAL.

GAR-SEAL butterfly valves provide critical shut-off duties and manage the flow of acidic, caustic, abrasive or toxic media that could severely damage or be too challenging for other valve systems. STERILE-SEAL butterfly valves are designed for applications where completely sterility is required, such as in the pharmaceutical and food & beverage production industries. The STERILE-SEAL is only available with a PTFE liner, and offers a unique external sterilization option: ‘dead’ areas of the valve, along with the disc, body liner and inner seals, can be thoroughly sterilized with steam and allow no possibility of contact with internal media. The SAFETY-SEAL is specifically designed to negate charge build up and dissipate static. Finally, the MOBILE-SEAL butterfly valve is intended for tanker vehicles, railway wagons, fluid storage silos and other containers where dangerous media are contained.

The Garlock butterfly valve line is offered with a wide range of accessories, including standard handles, locking handles, gear operators and air actuators.

AUMA: New Solutions for Oil and Gas Applications

AUMA lift plug valveAUMA has developed new actuation solutions for a range of specialized oil and gas applications, including an innovative approach for lift plug valves. These shut-off valves are widely adopted in high temperature, high pressure applications and for the conduction of media containing solids.

Within the lift plug valve, different movements have to be coordinated during operation from one end position to the other: the closing element must first be lifted from its seat, then rotated by 90° from CLOSE to OPEN or vice versa, and finally lowered back into the valve seat.
