Virtual Market Outlook Meeting Exceeds Expectations

More than 140 people came together virtually for the VMA/HI Market Outlook Workshop last week and results from a survey indicate it was a resounding success. Speakers were challenged by the unpredictability of what the new normal might be, but presented different possibilities for the global and domestic economies, water/wastewater, oil and gas, power, chemical and other markets. Nation’s Coal Operations Diminishing

Since 2011, more than 100 coal-fired power plants were replaced or converted to natural gas, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. At the end of 2010, the nation had 316.8 gigawatts (GW) of coal-fired capacity. By the end of 2019, almost 50 GW of that had been retired, 14.3 GW were converted to use natural gas and 15.3 GW were replaced with natural gas cogeneration operations. MORE
