Velan Inc. Announces Sale of its Jointly Held Italian Company

Velan announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with BPS S.r.l. for the sale of its 50% interest in Velan S.r.l., the sale was completed on July 21st, 2008.

Velan and BPS, which is owned by five senior executives of SRL, established SRL in 2003 to manufacture Trunnion Mounted API6D and 6A ball valves. SRL, whose name has been changed to Valbart, will continue to supply valves to the Velan Group.

W&O Acquires Valco/Premier

W&O, the largest supplier in the U.S. of marine valves, pipe, fittings, engineered products and valve automation solutions, has acquired the Valco/Premier Group, which includes Premier Copper Manufacturing, Valco Piping Products and Premier Copper & Brass/Pacific.

Valco/Premier's West Coast arm, Premier Copper & Brass/Pacific, will work in conjunction with W&O's San Diego office, which is operated as Valve Automation & Controls.

Rotork Valve Actuators in ‘Milestone’ Chinese Water Supply Project

Rotork IQPro intelligent electric valve actuators have been specified for one of China’s largest ever water infrastructure improvement projects. The Dahuofang Water Supply Project consists of a 231 kilometre pipeline, one pump station, six water distribution stations and a buffer tower.

Tyco Flow Control Set to Open New Pasadena Facility

Tyco Flow Control will open a new 42,000 square-foot service and repair center in Pasadena on July 15.

The company said the expansion will accommodate continuing service for pressure relief valves and tank vents previously performed at the company's Pasadena distribution center, and also will offer additional capabilities.

Report Says Refinery Fire Caused by Leak

The U.S. Chemical Safety Board found Valero Energy Corp., which operates the McKee Refinery, didn't have an effective program to identify and protect from freezing pipelines and equipment that were out of service or infrequently used. It also found the refinery didn't apply company policies on emergency isolation valves to control fires.
