Italian Company Provides 3-D Printed Valves for Hospital Ventilators

Outside of China, no country has been harder hit during the coronavirus pandemic than Italy. There the digital startup Isinnova, in collaboration with a local entrepreneur, has to date printed more than 100 valves, weighing only 0.7 ounces each, for Chiari hospital in Brescia.

“Made of plastic, these valves connect oxygen masks to ventilators used by coronavirus patients. They are called Venturi valves, named after 18th-century Italian physicist Giovanni Battista Venturi,” The National reports.
