ConocoPhillips Buys Concho Resources

Petroleum giant ConocoPhillips announced a transaction that will create a major oil competitor in the Permian Basin: The company is buying rival Concho Resources, a major Texas shale-oil organization. The outcome will be a company that can produce about 1.5M/bpd. Together the companies also have about 23B barrels in reserves. The transaction will close early next year. MORE
