Highest Level of Renewables Consumed in 2019

More than 11% of total U.S. energy consumption came from renewable sources in 2019, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reports. Wind surpassed hydroelectricity as the most-consumed source, making up about a quarter of renewables; hydroelectricity was 22%; and biofuels was 20%, with industrial consumption of those biofuels accounting for more than one-third of what’s used from that source of energy. MORE
