Computer Intrusion Threatens Florida Water System

A computer criminal in Florida invaded a municipal water treatment system in an attempt to contaminate the water supply by adjusting lye levels to dangerous amounts. Fortunately, an operator in the system noticed what was happening, corrected the potential danger and alerted authorities. The incident is an example of why the U.S. is so concerned with protecting the nation’s water infrastructure and why hacking is a danger to water companies. MORE
