Vertical Well Depth Record Set for Shale Gas
China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) announces breakthrough.
Sinopec has reached new depths in a major shale gas exploration in its Project Deep Earth-Sichuan and Chongqing Natural Gas Base, reaching over 17,000 feet deep (5,300 meters), with a horizontal run of more than 4,300 feet (1,312 meters). The well has been tested at a high daily output of industrial gas flow of more than 11 million cubic feet (314,500 cubic meters).
Sinopec made the discovery using its own ultrahigh pressure fracturing equipment, dynamically optimizing the parameters on site with different strategies for each section to pull the gas to the surface.

PFAS Chemicals and PTFE: Should the Valve Industry Be Concerned?
Legislation moving through Congress could affect the future use of thousands of PFAS chemicals (per- and polyfluoroalkyl). The house passed H.R. 2467 in July of 2021 and, though the bill is general in nature, it assigns the responsibility to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for determining which PFAS chemicals will be controlled or banned altogether.
