Shell announced on Twitter that on January 24, its Deer Park, Texas chemicals plant had lost steam due to tornadoes that came through the Houston area. "Due to severe weather and the resulting loss of on-site steam, Shell Chemicals at Deer Park is currently flaring," Shell tweeted. "There is no threat to the community, nor are there any indications a nearby tornado touched down within the Chemicals facility."

The total damage to the area is still being assessed.
