CADENAS PARTsolutions builds 3D CAD/BIM libraries of manufacturer’s products so that end users can go to the manufacturer’s website, configure the product they want, see what it looks like as a 3D model and download the 3D model into their design in whatever CAD or BIM system that they are working with. This helps the manufacturer by getting their products specified into a design that results in a purchase 82% of the time. It helps designers as they can configure, view, and download CAD/BIM files in seconds rather than having to redraw them which could take hours or days.

3D shape search and attribute search functions enable users to find internal CAD data from multiple business systems and navigate trillions of supplier parts from the PartSolutions libraries within their CAD software.

Cadenas is heavily involved in the industrial, electrical, construction and architectural markets producing/supplying CAD/BIM content.

While presenting in a recent VMA Valve Basics 101 Course in Houston, I found myself in a familiar role: explaining solenoid valves (SOVs) to attendees. (I work with solenoids so much that one VMA member at that conference joked that I needed to be wearing an I Heart Solenoids t-shirt). During the hands-on “petting zoo” portion of the program, which involves smaller groups of attendees, one of the most frequently asked questions I get from people came up: What’s the difference between direct-acting and pilot-operated SOVs, and how do we make a choice?
