The Biden administration has launched a wide-ranging plan to reduce methane emissions, targeting a potent greenhouse gas that contributes significantly to climate change and packs a stronger short-term punch than even carbon dioxide, reported the AP.
The plan was announced as Biden left the United Nations climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland. He pledged to work with the EU and other nations to reduce overall methane emissions worldwide by 30% by 2030.
The proposed EPA rule would for the first time target reductions from existing oil and gas wells nationwide, rather than focus only on new wells as previous regulations have done. More on the story is here.
